#Sochidogs

2/06/2014

I was shocked and saddened to read the news about the homeless animals in Sochi being rounded up and slaughtered in preparation for the Winter Olympics. It's heartbreaking, and it isn't the first time an Olympic location has tried to hide or get ride of their 'less desirable'. Calling dogs 'Biological Trash' is heartless. These creatures are our, companions, children, soul mates, and protectors. They are a blessing and certainly not trash.

Luckily, thanks to social media, this news quickly spread and many are voicing their response. I'm glad there are many that live in Sochi who feel the same way, including this rescue organization who is racing to save as many dogs as they can.

Though they may be far away, these 19 dog also voiced their opinion, and I think it's fantastic. We are happy to participate and hope that you will too. Sochi dogs deserve more.

  1. Such a powerful message Sarah! It's particularly sad how Olympic destinations often 'clean up' the unwanted prior to the games. It really flies in the face of what they're meant to be about.
It's heartening to see rescues helping these animals over there.
Oh and yes - Coco makes such an adorable protestor! x

  2. Thank you, lovely. Agreed, incredibly sad and disturbing. BUT It definitely makes me feel a little bit better to know that so many people care and are stepping up to protect them.
    And Coco thanks you!
